Bits of history — and lots more — for sale at gun show

OGDEN — Thousands of people entering the Antique and Modern Gun Show on Saturday were asked, “Are you carrying any guns with you today?”

Before noon, uniformed security guards at the door of the Golden Spike Arena Exhibit Hall had 50 to 60 weapons being held for safekeeping.

Isaa said Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, that he could send subpoenas to the Obama administration as soon as this week over weapons lost amid the Mexican drug war. Isaa suggested on “Fox News Sunday” that Attorney General Eric Holder knew about the gun trafficking operation known as “Fast and Furious” earlier than he has acknowledged.

Issa: ‘Fast and furious’ subpoenas issued soon

WASHINGTON — The chairman of the House oversight committee said Sunday that he could send subpoenas to the Obama administration as soon as this week over weapons lost amid the Mexican drug war.

White House rejects ATF proposal for reporting of long-gun sales

MILWAUKEE -- The White House budget office has delivered a blow to the federal agency charged with regulating gun stores, rejecting its emergency request designed to slow gun trafficking into Mexico.

The Office of Management and Budget notified the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives last week that its request to require gun stores in four border states to report the multiple sales of certain long guns favored by Mexican cartels did not constitute an emergency under the law.

AK-47s found at death scene near U.S.-Mexico border were part of ATF probe

In a sign of the cost of widespread U.S. weapons smuggling into Mexico, federal law enforcement sources have confirmed that two guns, part of a series of purchases that were being monitored by authorities, were found at the scene of the firefight that killed a U.S. Border Patrol agent in southern Arizona.

Sources said U.S. authorities did not have the ability to adequately monitor the movement of the guns toward the southern border, in part because of current laws and low levels of staffing.
