CLEARFIELD -- Officials have approved an agreement to lease space on a city-owned microwave tower.
The city owns a microwave tower in the Freeport Center, adjacent to building A-15.
This tower was donated to the city in 1994 by what was then Hercules Aerospace, though ATK now occupies the building. Currently, portions of the tower are being used by a cellular phone service provider, a wireless Internet service provider and ATK.
Clearfield is working to bring current any previous arrangements to occupy space on the tower. Digis, a wireless Internet provider, is executing a lease with the city for the space they currently use.
City Manager Chris Hillman said that is a $1,250 monthly agreement. Those funds are added to the general fund.
"This is just solidifying the spacing agreement we have with them," Hillman said.
