Layton man accused in gym attack pleads guilty to lesser charges

FARMINGTON — A Layton man has pleaded guilty to charges of grabbing a woman in a gym almost a year ago.

Randy Jess Inman, 26, entered guilty pleas to attempted aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault, both second-degree felonies, and sexual battery, a class A misdemeanor.

Inman appeared Tuesday before Judge Glen C. Dawson in 2nd District Court.

MORGAN -- It has been a week since an attempted child abduction at a school bus stop, but investigating officers are no closer to uncovering any clues and the community is uneasy.

On Oct. 11, a man asked a 9-year-old girl to come talk with him soon after she got off the bus. He said he would hurt her if she didn't. The girl ran away.

OGDEN — Police are investigating the kidnapping of two small children later found unharmed in a stolen van recovered Monday in Ogden.

As of Monday night, no arrests had been made in connection with the incident, which remained under investigation by the Ogden Police Department Major Crimes Division, said OPD Lt. Troy Burnett.
