Weber High student urges teen drivers to be safe after dropped muffin, crash

NORTH OGDEN — A lunchtime snack proved to be a recipe for near disaster Tuesday for a 16-year-old driver.

Gabby Correa was driving her dad’s Chevrolet truck west on 2950 North around 1 p.m., munching on a lemon-poppy seed muffin en route to Weber High School. The muffin fell out of her hand and landed on her arm.

New technology could help prevent car crashes due to inattentive drivers

WASHINGTON -- The Association of Global Automakers participated in today's National Transportation Safety Board forum on attentive driving explaining that automakers are actively looking at new research and opportunities to help address crashes caused by driver inattention.

OGDEN — The eyes of adults and children followed the trains weaving their way through intricate model layouts of countryside, construction sites and metropolitan areas.

Sudden acceleration study finds problems at auto safety agency

LOS ANGELES -- The nation's top auto safety regulator is ill-equipped to detect problems with high-tech electronics commonplace in today's cars, a new government study has concluded.

Calling such shortcomings "troubling," the study called on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to review its technical capabilities and appoint an advisory panel to help it handle potentially serious risks associated with systems such as adaptive cruise control and GPS navigation.
