No Mayan apocalypse but close for S. Ogden man whose stolen truck was totaled on Dec. 21

SOUTH OGDEN — The so-called Mayan apocalypse didn’t happen Dec. 21, but Ryan Adams’ world came crashing down anyway when his pickup truck was stolen and wrecked, possibly dooming his small construction company.

“It’s just unbelievable,” Adams said. “It’s unreal that it would happen in South Ogden.”

Adams, 38, owner and sole employee of Adams Quality Construction, bought the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado about six months ago for $9,000 to haul his equipment trailer.

However, Adams only had liability insurance on the truck, which means he can’t receive a settlement to replace the vehicle because it was demolished after it was stolen.

SOUTH SALT LAKE — Four people are seriously injured after a man stole a South Salt Lake police car and led authorities on a high-speed chase.

Police are  asking for help to find the person or persons responsible for stealing a 1990 red  Oldsmobile Regency from 4142 W. 4600 South in Roy and crashing it into an unoccupied home at 4776 S. 4175 West, Roy. Stolen car smashes through side of Roy home

ROY — Police are searching for anyone responsible for stealing a car and then crashing it into an unoccupied home.

“So far, we have no solid leads,” Roy Police Chief Greg Whinham said Friday.

A woman reported her red 1990 Oldsmobile Regency stolen from her home at 4142 W. 4600 South at 11:30 a.m. Thursday. Police found the car about a block away, crashed into a house at 4776 S. 4175 West.

LoJack 'ping' leads police to stolen Hummer

OGDEN — Two Utah Highway Patrol troopers have found six stolen vehicles in one month, including a Hummer in Ogden on Thursday.

UHP troopers Sean Cannon and Alex Williams have installed LoJack tracking devices in their police vehicles. When the device pings, it indicates that a stolen car, with a LoJack tracking device installed, is in the area.

Troopers located a 2005 H2 Hummer on Thursday, less than 39 minutes after receiving the first ping from a cellphone tower, Cannon said.

North Ogden Police seek suspects in stolen vehicle case

NORTH OGDEN — The North Ogden Police Department is asking for help from anyone who can identify those responsible for a recent stolen vehicle and criminal mischief complaint.

Brian Michael Davidson, 40, was arrested Tuesday and is being held in the Weber County Jail.

Riverdale city Jeep stolen in Ogden

OGDEN -- Police are looking for a stolen vehicle that belongs to Riverdale city.

The white Jeep Cherokee was parked in the city employee's driveway near 700 E. 4750 South on Thursday afternoon. While he was at lunch between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., he believes someone stole the city-owned Jeep, said Ogden Police Lt. Tony Fox.
