Hot rod heaven: Car show brings families together

CLEARFIELD -- In 1980, Brent Sanders bought a beat-up, 16-year-old Ford Mustang for $700, a hunting rifle and a .22 pistol.

"You should have seen the look on the face of the lady at the Motor Vehicles Department when she asked what I paid for it," Sanders said. "She decided to just put down the $700 and leave the rest off."

Car list launches the 26th-greatest story of car misery ever told

Edmunds, normally a publisher of reliable automotive information, last week produced a list of the "100 Greatest Cars of all Time."

Atop the list you have the 1932 Ford V8, which Edmunds says was the first really great working man's quality car.

Driver causes wreckage across Washington Boulevard

OGDEN — A driver left a trail of wreckage in his wake as he veered across both lanes of traffic at the 1400 block of Washington Boulevard at 8 a.m. today.

Fuel-economy deal poised for release Friday

WASHINGTON -- The White House has reached out to automakers, asking them to plan for a ceremony Friday to announce a deal over fuel-economy standards for 2017 to 2025, say two sources familiar with the discussions.

Utah's exports are booming

Business in Utah has an increasingly international flavor.

Exports from the Beehive State have doubled in the past five years, and early indications this year show the upward climb is continuing.

"We are a great exporting state," Lew Cramer, president of the World Trade Center Utah, said of the rise. Officials from other states and areas of the country are asking why, he said.

Garage burns down in Kaysville

KAYSVILLE — A garage burned down when a man used a power drill to attempt to drain the fuel from a wrecked car Sunday.

Collision sends two to hospital

FARR WEST -- Two women were taken to the hospital after their cars collided Wednesday afternoon.

A Honda Element was traveling east on 2550 North when it "apparently went through the stop sign" and crashed into a green Saturn going north on Rulon White Boulevard, Weber County Sheriff's Sgt. David MacInnes said. The Saturn wound up about 120 feet away from the crash site before coming to a stop, its front driver's side smashed, MacInnes said.

Driver in crash, witness both cited for DUI

OGDEN -- Three people were in the hospital after a collision that sent a vehicle crashing against a home.

Emily Hansen, 31, was traveling north on Van Buren Avenue in a 1990 Honda Accord around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday when she went through a stop sign at 26th Street, Lt. Eric Young said. She collided with a westbound 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee in the intersection.
