Manager honored for conservation efforts

SALT LAKE CITY — The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has honored Laura Romin, deputy field supervisor with the agency’s Utah Ecological Services Office, for her efforts to conserve the threatened Utah prairie dog. She is among 61 people nationwide recognized as a 2012 Recovery Champion.

The award acknowledges groups and individuals for outstanding efforts to conserve and protect endangered and threatened fish, wildlife and plants.

Hill Air Force Base EOD awarded prestigious Purple Heart

HILL AIR FORCE BASE — An Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician from Hill Air Force Base was awarded one of the military’s most prestigious honors earlier this week.

An Ogden community Hero honored for sharing his time, skills, friendship

OGDEN — After earning a degree in economics, Doug Clark went to work selling machinery. But it wasn’t long before he discovered he would rather fix machinery than sell it, so he went to night school and learned every trade in the book.

Scout earns all merit badges

ROY -- Jaden Bybee, 14, was honored at Roy’s City Council meeting for earning all 135 merit badges.

Bybee earned all the merit badges plus one that isn’t “official” yet. Bybee also earned his Eagle Scout award on his 13th birthday.

The council passed a special resolution honoring Bybee for his accomplishments. Bybee is a 4.0 student at Sandridge Junior High School.

Hill AFB civilian nets $30K award

HILL AIR FORCE BASE -- Terry Rettenberger's ideas have helped not only the Air Force, they've padded his wallet as well.

Rettenberger, a civilian at Hill Air Force Base who works as an equipment specialist with the 416th Supply Management Squadron, was awarded Monday with the Air Force Exceptional Innovator Award.

CERT official earns national honor

SYRACUSE -- A Syracuse emergency official has earned national recognition.

Robin Chase, assistant citizen emergency response team director for the city, was recently honored with the 2011 Medical Reserve Corps Partner Organization Award for her effort in integrating MRC training into city CERT classes.

Chase was also recognized locally during a recent city council meeting.
