Officials to consider BDO subdivision

OGDEN — The Ogden City Planning Commission on Wednesday will review an application for an 11-lot commercial subdivision for Business Depot Ogden.

A public meeting will begin at 5 p.m. in the City Council Chambers of the Ogden Municipal Building, 2549 Washington Blvd.

City Planner Rick Grover said the move would basically establish property lines around buildings that already have tenants in the area near 600 W. 2nd St. in the BDO.

OGDEN -- With machines humming in the background, employees of the Ogden Division of Barnes Aerospace gathered to receive the Shingo Silver Medallion at a ceremony Wednesday morning.

Three buildings going up at BDO

OGDEN -- The Boyer Company is constructing three buildings within Business Depot Ogden to meet the needs of firms looking at establishing a larger presence in the bustling industrial park.

Hearing on BDO lease funds extended

OGDEN -- The city council decided Tuesday night to continue until Nov. 1 a public hearing on a request from the administration to use about $1 million in Business Depot Ogden lease revenues to help revitalize east central neighborhoods.

The continuance is needed to allow the city council more time to study the request, said Bill Cook, the council's executive director.

Ogden OKs land sale to Boyer

OGDEN -- The Ogden Redevelopment Agency Board agreed Tuesday night to sell the Boyer Company about a quarter-acre of property for $244,000 to provide parking for a planned Internal Revenue Service building.

Utah areas part of report challenging beliefs about immigrants' contributions to U.S.

In the Ogden-Clearfield area, immigrants work at low-skilled jobs, such as manufacturing or in the service industry. The same goes for Salt Lake County.

Farther south in Provo, immigrants work in high-skilled jobs.

The three Utah areas were included in a Brookings Institution report released today on the education and skill levels of immigrants in the 100 largest metro areas in the country.
