LAYTON -- A week after taking it in the shorts, Bingham was on the giving end Friday night.
The two-time defending state champion Miners took their 26-game winning streak on the road and got blitzed 42-7 by California's Orange Lutheran on Saturday. They wasted no time in righting the ship back in Utah as they raced out to a 41-7 halftime lead over Layton before recording a 47-13 victory. The Miners haven't lost an in-state game since Alta beat them in the 2008 state title contest.
"They're the number one ranked team in the state and you wonder how good they are and what level you have to get to and now we know that we're a long way off," Layton coach Jim Batchelor said. "We got physically manhandled. They were more aggressive than us and they were more physical than us; they did anything they wanted to and we couldn't stop them."
