Lois Dawson Geddes of Washington Terrace celebrated her 80th birthday with her family this week.
She was born Lois Joyce on June 2, 1930, at the Dee Hospital in Ogden to John and Fannie Dawson. She is the youngest of nine children. She was raised on the family farm in Fairmont, where the Ogden-Hinckley Airport now stands. She learned to work hard as a young girl and to be frugal during the Depression.
She graduated from Weber High School and LDS Seminary in 1948, and attended Weber State College. She worked at Hill Air Force Base as a clerk typist until she was married.
She married Dee Reid Geddes on New Year's Day 1955. She gave up her working career and devoted her time to her husband and children. She enjoys being a homemaker and prepares made-from-scratch meals from recipes she learned while growing up on the farm and have been passed down to her children and grandchildren.
She is an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in a variety of positions over the years. She most enjoyed being a compassionate service leader in Relief Society, and provided care and comfort to many members of her ward.
Her children and their spouses are Brent and Sally Geddes, Alan Geddes, and Linda and Jason Olsen. Her grandchildren are Joy Geddes, Will Geddes, Lou Geddes, Alasun Geddes, Justin Olsen, Jessica Olsen, Katrissa Olsen and Oliver Olsen. Her great-grandchildren are Zakary Geddes and Ricky Geddes.
