Rebecca "Becky" Martinez

Rebecca "Becky" Martinez of Farr West celebrated her 80th birthday on Saturday, Aug. 21, at a luncheon and program with family. Friends were greeted at an open house following the program.

She was born on Sept. 2, 1930, in Del Norte, Colo., the daughter of Bryon S. Shaw and Rose Vigil. She married Bert M. Martinez in Taos, N.M., on Jan. 16, 1947. They later moved to Ogden, where they raised nine children: Byron and Barbara Martinez, Carlotta Ambrose and Dennis Dayton, Rebecca Martinez (deceased), Kathy Hoskins and Dennis Conroy, Annette and Merrill Spendlove, Cabrini and Eloy Martinez, Patty Jepsen, Lonnie and Jennifer Martinez, Tina Billmire, and Shelley and Rich Howe. She has 28 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

She worked for Sierra Lingerie, Cutter Laboratory and Intermountain Health Care Homecare.

She is a member of St. James Catholic Church.

Among her favorite things to do is crochet, work in her yard and trips to Jack Pot or Wendover every now and then. She also enjoys having her grandchildren and great-grandchildren drop in and visit.
