Kathleen Deis Thompson of North Ogden celebrated her 80th birthday on Friday. She was honored with a surprise party hosted by her family on Saturday.

The youngest of three, she was born April 26, 1933, to Louis and Hazel Moyes Deis. She grew up in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School. She married her eternal partner Richard Thompson. They raised five children. They enjoyed sharing the same birthday, travel, camping, and especially spending time with family. He died in 2002.

He was born April 28, 1933, in Ogden to Earl White and Lily Coy White. He married Valayne Halverson on April 17, 1959, in Ogden. She died April 26, 1997.

Richard A. Johnson of Clearfield celebrated his 80th birthday with a family dinner at the Maddox Ranch House Restaurant.

He was born on April 25, 1933, in Werner N.D., to Clifford and Iola Dancer Johnson. He graduated from Davis High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the destroyer USS Samuel N. Moore.

James Upshaw

James William Upshaw of North Ogden celebrated his 80th birthday at a private family party on April 27 at Maddox Ranch House Restaurant in Perry.

He was born April 26, 1933, in West Plains, Mo., to Lee and Levetra Upshaw. He married Shirley Thomas on Sept. 6, 1979 in Elko, Nev.

George Eugene Froerer of Ogden celebrated his 80th birthday at a surprise dinner with family and friends.

He was born April 27, 1933, to George Frederick Froerer and Lola May Farrell. He is the eldest of four children and the only boy. In his teen years, he contracted polio, leaving him with a disfigured spine, but it never stopped him from doing the things he wanted to do. He graduated from Ogden High School and attended Weber College for three years. He retired after 39 years at Hill Air Force Base.

Mildred Jensen of West Haven will celebrate her 97th birthday with her family today, April 28. She lives with her youngest daughter.

She was born on April 28, 1916, in Amalga to Willard and May Bingham.

LaDon Swaner celebrated her 80th birthday on Saturday, April 27, at a ladies luncheon held in her honor at the Greenery in Rainbow Gardens, followed by a family open house at her home in Ogden.

She was born on April 28, 1933, the oldest child of Stuart and Retta Hansen Swenson. She attended schools in Ogden, graduating from Ogden High School in 1951.

Carla Warren Crawley Turner of Farmington will celebrate her 80th birthday on May 7. Family and friends are welcome to attend an open house hosted by her children from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, at the LDS Rock Church, 272 N. Main, Farmington.

The eldest of five children and only daughter of Merle and Annie Warren, she was born on May 7, 1933.

Genevieve Gardner Bullard will celebrate her 90th birthday. Friends and family may attend an open house in her honor from 6 to 8 p.m. on April 25 at Clinton City Community Center, 1651 W. 2300 North. No gifts.

The 12th of 13 children, she was born on April 23, 1923, to Brigham D. and Maria Blacker Gardner in Afton, Wyo. During World War II, she and her sister, Maxine Gardner, took jobs in Washington D.C. They later joined the U.S. Marine Corps Women’s Reserve. While stationed in California, she met a young Marine. On Jan. 20, 1945, she married Claude Leslie Bullard. Their vows were later solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple. They enjoyed more than 65 years of marriage before his death in July 2010.

Iola Belnap Murray of West Point will be honored for her 90th birthday on April 27. Family and friends may attend an open house from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the LDS West Point Church House, 2865 W. 300 North.

Born April 28, 1923, in Independence, Idaho, to George Ellis and Mabel Hill Hall Belnap, she married Hugh Thomas Murray in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple on July 13, 1943. He died on Dec. 25, 1996.

Matilda C. “Tillie” Profaizer of Ogden celebrated her 95th birthday at a family party held at the Timbermine Restaurant & Steak House in Ogden on Saturday, April 20.

She was born on April 23, 1918, in Cumberland, Wyo., to Peter and Josephine Coletti.

She married Fred F. Profaizer on Sept. 1, 1936, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ogden.

Lue F. McCann of Riverdale celebrated his 90th birthday on April 18. A family dinner was held in his honor at Jeremiah’s on Saturday, where attendees came from six states.

He was born on April 18, 1923, in Smithfield to Albert and Lauretta Fishburn McCann. He is the last survivor in his family of six children.

Edward and Jean Hansen

Edward Judkins and Jean Abel Hansen of Ogden were honored with a joint birthday party on April 20. He turned 90 and she 87.

He was born on April 14, 1923, to Louis Alma Hansen and Sarah Evelynne Judkins. He grew up in Warren and graduated from Weber High School in 1941. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in May 1942 and served in the Pacific during World War II. Later he served in the Utah National Guard. He was a farmer, a mechanic (owning a 76 Oil Station), and a tractor-trailer driver. He was on the Wasatch Softball League and bowling leagues. He retired from driving in 1985.

Joseph Stokes

Joseph Wendell Stokes of Roy will celebrate his 80th birthday. Family and friends may attend an open house in his honor from 2 to 4 p.m. on April 27 at the Roy LDS chapel, 4900 S. 2000 West.

The youngest of six children, he was born and raised on the farm in Franklin, Idaho, on April 15, 1933, to Wilford and Nora Stokes.

To celebrate her 90th birthday, Betty R. Johnson Hart will be honored by family and friends at an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. today, April 21, at her home in Syracuse.

Born in Salt Lake City on April 22, 1923, to Holmes Ray Johnson and Stella Strong, she graduated from American Fork High School. It was there that she met her high school sweetheart Shirley W. Hart. They were married June 18, 1941, in Alpine. Their vows were later solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple; they were married 69 years before he died in 2010.
