U.S. bobsledder's family loses home in NJ

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- The U.S. Bobsled and Skeleton Federation has created the Jazmine Fenlator Family-Hurricane Irene Relief Fund to assist her family in starting over.

The Fenlator family home in Wayne, N.J. was destroyed by flood waters from the storm, and Fenlator, a driver on the women's bobsled team, hasn't been able to get back to her hometown to help her family recover.

Hays hired to coach U.S. women's bobsledders

Three-time Olympian Todd Hays has been hired to coach the U.S. women's bobsled team.

Hays retired from driving after a frightening head injury in 2009, crashing during a testing run in Germany and having his helmet shattered by a piece of ice in the track.

He won two medals in world championship events, and his silver at the Salt Lake City Games in 2002 ended a 46-year Olympic medal drought for American men's bobsledding.

Four women head down the course this time around

It's only a matter of time before women bobsledders will take over the four-woman sled.

Last Monday, pilot Bree Schaaf navigated a four-man sled from the top of the combined track in Lake Placid, N.Y. USBSF officials say it is the first women's sled to start from the top of the Lake Placid course, and perhaps the first-ever four-woman trip.

Holcomb apologizes for 'poor judgment' in DUI case

PARK CITY -- Olympic bobsled champion Steven Holcomb says he used "poor judgment" when he drove after drinking in October 2009.

Holcomb was ordered this week to pay a $1,430 fine and complete 48 hours of community service after pleading to a lesser charge of impaired driving. He was originally charged with driving under the influence after officials said Holcomb registered 0.19 on a breath test -- more than twice Utah's legal intoxication limit of 0.08.
