Attorneys for accused NATO bomb plotters complain of jail conditions

CHICAGO -- Lawyers for three out-of-state men accused of plotting to firebomb police stations and other political targets during the NATO summit in Chicago complained Tuesday that their clients have been held in solitary confinement in Cook County Jail, calling their treatment "cruel and unusual."

CIA thwarts al-Qaida underwear bomb plot

WASHINGTON -- The CIA thwarted an ambitious plot by al-Qaida's affiliate in Yemen to destroy a U.S.-bound airliner using a bomb with a sophisticated new design around the one-year anniversary of the killing of Osama bin Laden, The Associated Press has learned.

FBI: 5 men arrested wanted to blow up Ohio bridge

CLEVELAND — Five men, including three "self-proclaimed" anarchists, have been arrested in connection with a plot to blow up a bridge over the Cuyahoga Valley National Park south of downtown Cleveland, federal officials said Tuesday.

Roy High's Hoggan gets six months for bomb scheme

OGDEN — Joshua Kyler Hoggan pleaded guilty Tuesday to possession of a weapon of mass destruction in a scheme to explode a bomb at Roy High School and was sentenced to a minimum of six months in a juvenile facility.

Hoggan, 17, also was ordered by Juvenile Court Judge Janice Frost to pay $8,000 to $10,000 in restitution to Roy High to re-key the school.

In exchange for Hoggan’s guilty plea, prosecutors abandoned efforts to try him as an adult.

Hoggan receives six months in juvenile facility for Roy High bomb plot

OGDEN -- Joshua Hoggan was sentenced today to six months in a secure care juvenile facility as part of a plea agreement over his role in a plan to set off a bomb at Roy High School.

OGDEN -- A preliminary hearing is set May 14 for Dallin Todd Morgan in what police say was a plan with another teen to set off a bomb at Roy High School.

Judge rules open court for Hoggan appearances over alleged Roy High bomb plot

OGDEN — Juvenile Court Judge Janice Frost ruled Thursday that all future actions in her court will be open if they are connected with Joshua Hoggan, one of two youths charged with plotting to explode a bomb at Roy High School.

Frost said Utah law and the public’s interest in her court’s decisions outweigh whether Hoggan will be embarrassed, or his ability to be rehabilitated harmed, by public access.

Teen bomb plot suspect released to parents

OGDEN — The 16-year-old boy accused in a plot to blow up Roy High School has been released to his parents.

Police arrested Roy High students Joshua Kyler Hoggan and Dallin Morgan, 18, on Jan. 25 after two students went to authorities with concerns about text messages from Hoggan detailing plans to set off a bomb at a school assembly.

“After a hearing on Mr. Hoggan’s detention status, the court finds that it is appropriate to release him to the custody of his parents,” Utah courts spokeswoman Nancy Volmer said after a Friday hearing before 2nd District Juvenile Judge Janice Frost that was closed to the press and public.
