Webers Reads The Founders and Their Documents continues with a readers theater event by Weber State University's Department of Performing Arts at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Hetzel-Hoellein Room of the Stewart Library, 3848 Harrison Blvd, WSU, Ogden. This is a free event.

* Susan Kent, history professor at the University of Colorado, Boulder, will present the Women's History Lecture at Weber State University at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Stewart Library Hetzel-Hoellein Room, 3848 Harrison Blvd., WSU, Ogden.

Kent specializes in modern British history, focusing on gender, culture, imperialism and politics. She has written several books about gender equality and women's struggles and is co-author of "The Women's War of 1929: Gender and Violence in Colonial Nigeria."

-- As part of the Weber Historical Society's Fall 2011 Lecture Series, Newell Bringhurst and Craig Foster present "The FLDS and the Outside World" at 7 p.m. Monday in the Lindquist Alumni Center, Weber State University, 3848 Harrison Blvd., Ogden.

Bringhurst, a retired history and political science professor from the College of the Sequoias in California, is the author and editor of numerous books and an FLDS scholar.

* Idaho poet Charles Potts will read from his work at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Room 101 of the Merrill-Cazier Library at Utah State University, 700 E. 400 North, Logan, and at 7 p.m. Thursday during the Helicon West reading series at True Aggie Cafe, 117 N. Main, Logan. Last fall, Potts donated his collection to USU. The collection includes broadsides, correspondence, manuscripts, diaries and thousands of literary magazines and books Potts amassed from nearly five decades of writing and publishing poets.

* California author Jacqueline Berger reads from and signs "Loves, Lies, and Tears" (Roserita Books, $24.95) at 7 p.m. Tuesday at The King's English Bookshop, 1511 S. 1500 East, Salt Lake City. The book is the second volume in a collection of inspirational biographies of the First Ladies -- including Ellen Wilson and Jacqueline Kennedy -- and the life lessons Berger learned from each woman.

* The Brigham City Library continues its reading discussion series "Final Salute" at 7 p.m. Thursday with "The Soldier's Tale: Bearing Witness to a Modern War" by Samuel Hynes. The discussion will be led by Sally Shigley of Weber State University.

Hynes, who was a Princeton literature professor, is closely acquainted with war, having served as a Marine pilot in World War II and the Korean War.

She plans to share favorite stories about Utah women and answer questions. The event is free.
