Bountiful to recruit new city manager

BOUNTIFUL — Longtime City Manager Tom Hardy will not return to his old post once he completes his LDS mission.

Mayor Joe Johnson and the city council publicly announced their intention to recruit a city manager effective immediately.

Bountiful cleanup project on the schedule

BOUNTIFUL -- A fall cleanup project has been scheduled for Oct. 8-12.

During the special event, residents can get rid of properly bundled, bagged or boxed trash, refuse, or limbs and trees that are cut and tied in 5-foot lengths.

Bountiful council approves development on Main Street

BOUNTIFUL — A unique, mixed-use project for Main Street has been given the green light.

A mixed commercial/residential project at 305 N. Main St., involving a restaurant and development of approximately 12 housing units, was unanimously approved recently in two separate votes.

Small additions OK’d for Bountiful cemetery

BOUNTIFUL -- City officials have signed off on final details of a small addition to the city cemetery.

The city council voted recently to grant preliminary and final approval of plat N to the city cemetery. The plat contains 80 full or partial lots. Each lot contains eight individual 4-foot by 8-foot burial plots.

The cemetery is located at approximately 2224 South and 200 West.

Formal property line finalized in Bountiful

BOUNTIFUL -- More than 20 years after it was first negotiated, a lot line-adjustment between the Redd Apartments and the Bountiful City Cemetery has been finalized.

At a recent meeting, the city council voted unanimously to approve a common property line between the housing complex and the cemetery and to formally record a land exchange between the Redd family and the city.

The property in question is located on the west side of the cemetery along with a small strip of land that will eventually become part of the road from the cemetery to Main Street.

Bountiful Farmer’s Market set to open for summer

BOUNTIFUL - The farmer’s market will open for the season on June 21 and run every Thursday until Oct. 11.

The market, at 100 South and 100 East, is open from 3 p.m. to dusk.

Renovation project gains financing from Bountiful RDA

BOUNTIFUL - A renovation project on Main Street has gained financing from the city’s redevelopment agency.

The RDA board, at a recent meeting, voted to grant a $250,000 loan for over a 10-year period to Deseret Landco, LLC for renovation of the existing Duncan Lighting property at 290 S. Main St.

Aric Jensen, director of Planning and Economic Development, said the application was facilitated by the fact that Deseret Landco has a good history with the RDA and downtown projects, notably renovation of the old Bountiful Lumber Company building.

Bountiful council gives approval for power purchases

BOUNTIFUL - City leaders have approved expenditures totaling more than $159,000 to boost the inventory of transformers, 46 kV switches and a 1/0 primary cable for the Bountiful City & Light Company.

After years of waiting and fundraising, officials expect to break ground for a new regional museum by early May, said Dean Collingwood, chairman of the Bountiful Historic Commission. He expects to complete groundbreaking plans in the next few weeks.

After months of waiting, two new turbines for the city’s power plant on 200 West have been put into place. Now, work to get those power-generating sources situated and tested will begin.

Firefighter falls through floor while dousing Bountiful fire

BOUNTIFUL — A firefighter fell through part of a floor while battling a blaze at a Bountiful home.

Just after 11 p.m. Friday, a woman returned to her house near 1100 South and 40 East to see smoke coming out of the chimney. Because she hadn’t lit her fireplace in years and her windows were dark, she called 911, said South Davis Metro Fire Chief Jim Rampton.
