Bountiful raises recycling fee 20 cents

The monthly fee to fund a mandatory curb-side recycling program has been raised by 20 cents.

In action taken Jan. 24, the city council voted unanimously to bump up the fee of the service from $3.05 per household each month to $3.25. The added revenue is expected to help the city cover the actual costs of the program.

Bountiful implemented its recycling program in August of 2008. The program is expected to extend the life of the city’s landfill.

Bountiful drill team to perform for Jazz

BOUNTIFUL -- The Mandonelles, Bountiful High School's award-winning drill team, will perform Monday at EnergySolutions Arena during halftime of the Utah Jazz-versus-Portland Trail Blazers game.

Bountiful council members get assignments

BOUNTIFUL — Newly elected Councilman Richard Higginson will chair the city’s water committee and also serve on the power committee.

Bountiful office building given approval

A commercial site plan to construct a 3,500 square foot office building on a vacant lot at 265 East and 500 South has been given approval.

The council recently voted 5-0 to approve both the preliminary and final commercial site plan proposed by Rainey Homes.

The plan proposes a professional office building that will resemble a single family dwelling, even though the .25 acre lot is located in a Professional Office Neighborhood (PO-N) zone.

City leaders created the new PO-N zone in hopes of blending office space in areas featuring homes. Aric Jensen, director of planning and economic development, said the project fits within that scope.

Bountiful names interim manager

BOUNTIFUL -- Longtime City Attorney Russell Mahan will assume the role of interim city manager in this community for at least a year, effective in February.

Bountiful city manager will resign, serve mission

BOUNTIFUL -- One of the state's senior city executives has announced his retirement.

Tom Hardy, Bountiful's city manager for the past 31 years, announced his resignation Monday morning in a meeting of city staff that included members of the city council.

Bid awarded for well work in Bountiful

BOUNTIFUL — The city council has awarded a bid to build an addition onto one of the city’s wells to house new controls for fluoride and chlorine gas in the same room.

David Patton named to Bountiful Planning Commission

The appointment of one new member of the city’s Planning Commission has been approved by the city council.

In action taken recently, the council voted unanimously to appoint David Patton to a four-year term on the Planning Commission to replace Barbara Holt.
