Missouri schools can add 4 activities as sports

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Some favorite leisure time activities in Missouri could become high school sports.

The Missouri State High School Activities Association announced Thursday that member schools voted to allow schools to sponsor teams in bass fishing, chess, bowling and target shooting, beginning next year.

New Zion Bowling Fellowship today

OGDEN — The New Zion Baptist Church Installation Committee is inviting everyone to come out for a “Bowling Fellowship” from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. today at Davis Bowling Lanes, 1396 N. Main St. in Layton.

Cost is $12 per person and includes shoes and two games. Nonbowlers are welcome, too.

New Zion to discuss women in the Bible; 'Bowling Fellowship' set

OGDEN — New Zion Baptist Church, 2935 Lincoln Ave., will present its second of three “Women of the Word Gospel Explosion” programs at 7 p.m. Friday.

The program theme is, “New Life” (Isaiah 43:18-19), and the speaker for the occasion will be Geraldine Beard, of Second Baptist Church. Members and friends are invited to come and be blessed by anointed worship, ministry in music and fellowship.

Royals top local prep bowling

The Northern Utah High School Bowling League staged its finals on Feb. 16 at Ben Lomond Lanes as eight teams squared off for placement.

Flint high school grads bowl together every week

MOUNT MORRIS TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Almost 50 years after they left Flint Northern High School they still talk about old teachers, cute girls in school and times spent cruising around the city.

For the past five years, a group of eight to 12 men who attended Northern High School in the 1960's reminisces on a weekly basis over a few games of bowling at Colonial Lanes in Genesee County's Mount Morris Township.
