Richard (Dick) S. Larsen, 89, of Sunset, Utah, died at the George E. Whalen Ogden Veterans Home on Friday, April 6, 2012, from Parkinson's disease. Bees tap team depth for Cache-Box track title

 

LOGAN — With an impressive pile of points in the field events, the Box Elder girls track and field team won the Cache-Box Invitational on Thursday at Utah State’s Maughan Track Stadium.

The Bees tallied 179 points, followed by Mountain Crest with 174.5.

The Box Elder boys used the same formula but ended up second to Sky View., 196 to 172.5.

Box Elder gives Roy first league loss since '09

BRIGHAM CITY — Back when they were in the same league, the Bees always gave Roy High fits.

• bonneville 8, Sky view 1:

Maddi Keesler was 2-for-4 with an RBI triple and scored two runs and Hayden Stofferahn went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run for the two-time defending league champion Lakers (5-3, 3-2).

The Bobcats are 4-8, 1-4.

In the other game, defending league co-champion Mountain Crest crushed Logan 18-5 in five innings.

The Mustangs are 11-3, 3-2; the Grizzlies are 1-11, 0-5.

Region 6

• woods cross 9, clearfield 6:

Phoenix Sparrow smacked a home run and Lexi Anderson drilled a double for Clearfield (7-6, 3-2), which committed six errors.

Non-league

• fremont 11, herriman 4:

Dina Stewart went 2-for 4-with a three-run bomb, reached on an error and scored three runs. Amber Nebeker was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk; Bailey Wilson went 2-for-3 with a two-run double and an RBI single; Jacee Hancock had a run-scoring single; and Dusty Kimber had a sacrifice fly for Fremont (6-7).

At Plain City’s Dick Scadden Field, the Silver Wolves and Mustangs combined for 21 hits, including seven for extra bases.
At Woods Cross, the Wildcats knocked down the Falcons after rallying from a 6-0 fourth-inning deficit.
At Washington Terrace’s CD Field, sophomore right-hander Andy Hancock allowed five hits with six strikeouts, one walk and two hit batters. She also went 2-for-3.
