Bridges over Weber River connect to new trail segment

WEST HAVEN -- They may look like bridges to nowhere now, but two new spans over the Weber River will soon provide access to a new extension of the Weber and Ogden river trail system.

Bridge over canal no longer a problem in Plain City

PLAIN CITY — A bridge that was falling apart has been repaired, Mayor Jay Jenkins said at a recent meeting.

Jenkins said he had been trying to get the repairs done by the state for six years.

Three I-15 bridges to be replaced at a cost of $20 million

BOUNTIFUL -- The state plans to replace three bridges along Interstate 15 in Davis County -- but officials say the trick will be doing it with as little impact as possible.

At a Utah Transportation Commission meeting last week, Utah Department of Transportation officials said plans are in the works to perform major bridge deck replacements along I-15 at 500 South in Bountiful and 1500 South and 2600 South in Woods Cross.

Clearfield road set for 10-month closure

CLEARFIELD — The State Road 193 project is slated to start in the spring, and when it does, the public will experience some major impacts.

The Utah Department of Transportation recently announced a tentative schedule for the massive reconstruction project, part of which includes a complete closure of 700 South west of State Street in Clearfield.

Watchdog applauds Top of Utah bridges

Unlike the famous nursery rhyme, Utah bridges are not falling down.

The Ogden-Clearfield metropolitan area ranks 11th out of the country's top 102 metropolitan areas for the lowest percentage of structurally deficient bridges, according to a study released Wednesday by Transportation for America, a transportation watchdog group.

Of the more than 300 bridges in the Ogden-Clearfield area, which consists of Davis, Weber and Morgan counties, only 3.2 percent are structurally deficient, according to the study.
