FARMINGTON -- City officials have approved a $7.2 million tentative budget for the coming fiscal year, holding the line on taxes and fees and earmarking some funds for a potential recreational complex.

HARRISVILLE -- In order to balance the fiscal year 2012-2013 budget, the city council must resolve a $140,206 shortfall between projected income and expenditure.

PLEASANT VIEW — The Pleasant View City Council will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. June 12 at the city office, 520 W. Elberta Drive, to consider a $200,000 fund transfer from the solid waste fund to the water fund for the 2012-13 fiscal year budget.

RIVERDALE -- City officials are pleased with many aspects of Riverdale's tentative budget for fiscal year 2012-13.

Riverdale Business Administrator Lynn Fortie recently reported that property taxes are not set to increase.

BRIGHAM CITY — Residents here will pay more for utilities if the city council approves the mayor’s proposed budget for 2012-13.

Mayor Dennis Fife’s recently presented $11.9 million budget also recommends a 2 percent merit increase for city employees.

WASHINGTON TERRACE — The city of Washington Terrace received a distinguished award for its budget on Wednesday.

The Government Finance Officers Association gave the city its Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, the only national award in governmental budgeting, according to a GFOA news release.

A city’s budget must be rated “proficient” as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guideline and as a communications device, according to national guidelines, to receive the award, the release states.
