OGDEN — The Community Development Block Grant program has two projects slated for 2013 that could improve the lives of Weber County’s lower-income families.

UofU students want to stop building plan that blocks view

SALT LAKE CITY -- Some University of Utah students are calling for the school to abandon plans for a parking garage that would block their mountain view.

New credit union building in works in Bountiful

BOUNTIFUL -- City officials have given the green light to a plan to build a new Goldenwest Credit Union at 2085 South Orchard Drive.

The city council, in its first meeting of 2013, voted unanimously to grant preliminary and final site approval for a single-story 4,000 square foot retail/commercial building on 0.70 acres in a mixed use (MXD-R) zone.

The project had been approved several years ago but details forced that approval to lapse, forcing it to undergo planning commission and the city council review to move forward.

FARR WEST -- Community development block grants will not be available to Farr West until the city comes up with a capital improvement plan, Councilwoman Ava Painter said. She said she has been attending workshops for CBDG grants and will continue to do so, but the city cannot apply for a grant until its capital improvement plan is in place.
