Man faces 5 more burglary charges in Layton case

LAYTON — A 32-year-old man who has entered pleas to four felonies in four separate cases has now been charged with an additional five felonies in four different cases.

SOUTH WEBER — Thieves are not waiting for residents to go to sleep before taking what they want from unlocked cars in driveways and open garages, says Davis County Sheriff’s Sgt. Susan Poulsen.

Poulsen said the thieves are “getting more brazen. They’re looking for the quick and easy.”

Poulsen said the crime spree occurred over several days earlier this week, between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m., in the area of 8200 South in South Weber.

SOUTH SALT LAKE — South Salt Lake police are looking for a pair of burglars who made off with more than $320,000 in commercial camera equipment from a local business.

SARATOGA SPRINGS — A suspect has been arrested and charged in a string of burglaries at nearly a dozen homes in Saratoga Springs.

Police told the (Provo) Daily Herald that 34-year-old Randy Christensen of Saratoga Springs was arrested Monday and booked into the Utah County Jail on 11 charges of burglary.

Saratoga Springs police Cpl. Shane Taylor says Christensen told investigators he is an addict who was looking for prescription drugs. He estimated he has entered or attempted to enter about 100 homes in search of drugs.

Layton man accused of assaulting woman after asking for cigarette

KAYSVILLE — A 22-year-old man who asked a woman for a cigarette is accused of sexually and physically assaulting her in her apartment.

Glenn Vaughn Monroe, of Layton, was arrested Sunday after 8 p.m. and booked in Davis County Jail on three counts of forcible sexual abuse, one count of forcible sodomy, one count of burglary of a dwelling, and four misdemeanors.

Kaysville Police Capt. Brent Ward said a woman called police reporting she had been assaulted in her apartment near 600 W. Mutton Hollow.

Man accused of burglarizing Lakeside Golf Course pro shop

WEST BOUNTIFUL — A 29-year-old man is facing charges of burglarizing a golf course.

Dustin Donald Peer broke into the Lakeside Golf Course pro shop, 1201 N. 1100 West, on the morning of April 6, according to a probable cause affidavit filed Wednesday in 2nd District Court in Farmington.

He is accused of stealing $200 from the cash register and attempting to break into a safe. Damage to a window in the pro shop, through which Peer allegedly entered during the break-in, has been estimated at $1,000 to $2,500.

SALT LAKE CITY -- The fugitive recently captured by Utah authorities for a series of cabin break-ins over six years is now under federal investigation for firearms violations.

SALT LAKE CITY -- Troy James Knapp was dodging authorities, again.

The fugitive with a fondness for whiskey and a dislike of living near people had been wanted for a string of break-ins for years at cabins in Utah's mountains. With each near miss, each wanted poster and each threatening note left behind for law enforcement, the legend of him only grew.
