Census Bureau hiring more than 1,000 in Utah

PROVO -- The U.S. Census Bureau is looking for up to 1,200 field workers to knock on doors across much of Utah from March to July.

It will be the biggest Census Bureau operation in Utah -- an operation responsible for counting heads in 20 counties from Provo south to St. George.

The bureau's office manager in Provo, Matt Mace, says job applicants will take a basic skills test with those scoring the highest getting hired first.

The bureau is taking no resumes and conducting no job interviews.

Another Census Bureau operation in the Salt Lake City suburb of Sandy says it will hire 1,200 workers starting in January to staff a hot line for citizens with questions about the 2010 Census.
