Cottages of Hope offers free series financial courses

OGDEN - Stretch Your Bucks Without Breaking Your Back is a free community program that Cottages of Hope offers to help households gain control of their finances. Classes will be offered every Thursday throughout March from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

This financial series includes four classes, the first of which will be held Thursday March 4. Each class will cover topics such as understanding your relationship with money, getting your finances organized, banking, budgeting, how to build savings, pay down debt, and much more.

"My wife and I have benefited from the free, professional services and excellent expertise of Jeremy and Chris at the Cottages of Hope for the last couple of years," said Jimmy Bokinskie, a recent user of Cottages of Hope. "Due to the savings plan that they helped us set up, we are going to be able to pay for graduate school. They opened our eyes to the sensibility and simplicity of saving money. Believe me when we say, if we can do it, then anybody can do it. Most of the time finances can be complicated and confusing, but after taking the free classes we saw it was much simpler to save than we thought previously."

Attendance of classes may also help individuals qualify for an Individuals Development Account (IDA). An IDA is a 3 to 1 matched savings program to help individuals and families build assets.
