Otis Spunkmeyer opens new call center

OGDEN -- Otis Spunkmeyer's newest customer service center is opening its doors at Business Depot Ogden next month.

The call center for the cookie company will employ 85 people who will answer calls and provide customer care.

The center is the result of a consolidation of three other call centers in California, Ohio and South Carolina. Kym Cadle, director of customer care for the company, said 11 employees are transferring to Ogden from the three centers, while the remaining openings will be filled locally.

"This is an exciting move for Otis Spunkmeyer and we are very happy to be establishing a customer contact center here in Ogden," John Schiavo, president and CEO said at a ribbon- cutting ceremony Thursday.

"This state-of-the-art facility puts our people first and will provide our thousands of customers with the best service and support in the business. We are looking forward to a long and prosperous affiliation with the Ogden community."

Cadle said the company will open an initial operation by March 28, then move to full operation by June 1.

"The reason we are doing this is to create a new culture," she said. "We're trying to provide anything but a vanilla call center. We want it to be an environment where employees want to be."

Cadle said the company chose Ogden for its new call center for several reasons, including the quality of life in the area and the highly educated, genuine people found in Utah.

She said the company is excited about Mayor Matthew Godfrey's ideas for revitalizing the Ogden area.

"His vision matches our vision," she said. The company specializes in fresh-baked cookies, frozen cookie dough, thaw-and-serve cookies and muffins, coffeecakes, pastries, brownies and other products.
