SALT LAKE CITY - Utah Department of Agriculture and Food (UDAF) food safety inspectors have contacted egg distributors in the state and have found no evidence that any of the tainted eggs associated with the Wright County Egg recall are in Utah. We believe it is highly unlikely any of the eggs are in the state.
We continue to monitor for the presence of the eggs and will report updated information if the situation changes.
UDAF inspectors made personal contact with Utahegg distributors named in the FDA recall and found that the Utahdistributors purchased eggs from local sources, not from Wright County Eggs in Iowa.
The UDAF is contacting the FDA requesting Utahbe removed from the national recall notice since no evidence exists any of the eggs are here.
The UDAF recommends that consumers cook eggs well before consuming. There is always a health risk when consuming foods of animal origin that are raw or under cooked.
