Giving Trees hold foster care kids' holiday hopes

OGDEN -- The Utah Foster Care Foundation is seeking businesses and retailers to set up Giving Trees.

The trees will hold purple and white holiday ornaments that have holiday wishes from children in foster care.

"Many of the children and teens in care have been removed from their biological homes because of neglect or abuse," said Kristie Loock, Foster/Adoptive Family Retention Specialist for UFCF.

"Christmas can be a difficult time for them. I encourage office workers, church groups and others to call us and get a list of 'wishes' from these children. Families could even make it their special holiday project."

The foundation is trying to provide at least 1,000 gifts for children in state-licensed foster homes throughout Utah. Gift cards for teens are especially needed.

For information, contact Loock at loock@utahfostercare.org or 801-528-8610.
