Utah Air Force Association plans symposium in Layton

LAYTON - Utah Air Force Association's 32nd annual Focus on Defense Symposium will take place June 15, 2011 at the Davis Conference Center at 800 West Heritage Park Boulevard in Layton.

This year's theme is "Implementing Efficiencies in Readiness and Sustainment" which focuses on aggressively implementing efficiency initiatives called out by the Defense Secretary Gates in his 16 August 2010 memo. Speakers will provide their perspectives associated with implementing this guidance in their functional or operational environments, how the Air Force is doing so far, and how the Air Force can achieve the following:

* Lower cost - Same performance

* Same cost - improved performance

* Improved effectiveness and efficiency

The all-day Focus on Defense Symposium will be held on June 15, 2011 followed by the charity golf events on June 16 & 17. Golf venues will be Hubbard golf course on Hill Air Force Base and Wolf Creek golf course in Ogden Valley.

The Symposium and its' associated Charity Golf Tournament raises money for the Utah Aerospace Education Foundation. The Utah Aerospace Education Foundation is dedicated to Utah's and America's aerospace excellence through public awareness programs, education and financial assistance.
