SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah political and business leaders are leaving for a trade mission to China that will include stops in Beijing and Shanghai.
Gov. Gary Herbert will lead the group on the trip departing Salt Lake City on Friday.
The group will be in China until April 15.
The trade mission's focus is on connecting Utah businesses with Chinese businesses, meeting with Chinese government agencies and promoting tourism to Utah.
The Governor's Office of Economic Development says in a news release that exports to China totaled almost $2 million in 2010. The country is Utah's second largest trading partner.
In his State of the State speech in January, Herbert said he wants to double the amount of Utah's international exports.
