PROVO -- A Philadelphia-based venue manager is being hired to manage a new convention center in Utah.
The Utah County Commission on Tuesday hired Comcast subsidiary Global Spectrum Inc. to handle food and beverage and maintenance at the Utah County Convention Center in Provo, and to help with marketing.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports the contract is $3,000-per-month until the facility opens in June 2012, and nearly $100,000 for the first year of operation.
Brigham Young University graduate Daniel Wheeler will be the general manager.
Commission Vice Chairman Larry Ellertson says that with a performance bonus, Global Spectrum could make $150,000 a year during the five-year contract.
The Daily Herald of Provo reports the company also manages the University of Phoenix Stadium Exhibit Hall in Arizona and the Miami Beach Convention Center.
