PARK CITY -- A report by the University of Utah's Bureau of Economic and Business Research says the 2011 Sundance Film Festival brought nearly $6 million in tax revenue to Utah.

The Deseret News says the report released this week shows attendance at the annual event was nearly 46,000 -- up 11 percent from 2010. That figure includes more than 30,000 out-of-state visitors who spent more than $54 million on lodging, meals, recreation and other local businesses.

The report says the 10-day festival in January had a $70 million impact on the state's economy, and supported 1,600 paying jobs.
