ALTA -- Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort has so much snow it plans to stay open on weekends until July 4 for only the third time in history.
Resort officials say that would make for a record-breaking 202 days of skiing and riding. The current record is 201 days, set in 2005.
The resort in Little Cottonwood Canyon -- about 30 miles south of Salt Lake City -- has received 760 inches of snowfall this season, breaking the previous record set in 1984 by 72 inches.
Snowbird has stayed open until July 4 only twice in its 40-year history, in 1995 and 2005.
The resort will remain open Friday through Sunday as conditions allow, with officials recommending advanced to expert ability levels. Tickets are $64.
