MONTE CRISTO -- A man burned his hands after an oxygen tank exploded while he was holding it.
The 38-year-old man was camping with a group of people near Dry Bread Pond Saturday evening when he went to help someone with the oxygen tank about 7:45 p.m. The tank exploded while he was adjusting or fixing it, said Weber County Sheriff's Cpl. Mark Horton.
The man, whose identity was not released, suffered third-degree burns on one hand and second-degree burns on the other.
Investigators are left at a loss for why the tank exploded. "There were no flames around, no one was smoking, there were no pilot lights," Horton said.
Paramedics wrapped his hands and took him to McKay-Dee Hospital for treatment.
