Murray residents want answers after canal break

MURRAY — Dozens of Murray residents turned out at city hall to voice their concerns about the canal break that flooded at least eight homes with water and mud over the weekend.

PLEASANT VIEW -- The canal that runs through Pleasant View along 1000 West is aging, but there are areas where property owners will not allow the North Ogden Canal Company access to maintain it, says Councilman Michael Humphreys, a member of the canal company.

"People live there (so) we cannot get in to maintain that," Humphreys said. "We need the city to approach these problems."

"It is a canal company easement, not the city's," said Mayor Doug Clifford.
