Joseph Dee Curfew
1. What qualifications do you possess that make you the best choice to represent your city?
I have lived in Willard since 1984, moving here when I was only fourteen years old. I began working at the age of fifteen years old picking cherries and then working at the Willard Grocery store. I have also been in Law Enforcement since 1991. I served as a reserve police officer for Willard City from 1991 to 1993, then Full Time officer from 1993 to 2005 and also serving as the Police Chief during that time. I have been a member of the Willard Fire Department from 1988 to present. I am currently the Willard City Emergency Management Coordinator, since 2008. I have also been an Off Highway Vehicle safety instructor since 2003, teaching safety and skills riding for children eight years old and up. I am currently a CSO Officer for Ogden City Police Department.
2. What political ideals and philosophies guide your decision-making process?
What guides my decision-making process is the fact that I am not in it for my own personal gain, never have been. I am in it for the best interests for the citizens and city of Willard, present and future.
3. Name some qualities that you possess that make you a good team worker and able to bring consensus among city leaders.
I believe in communication, I am open minded to new ideas and I believe in viewing the big picture before making decisions. I think that investing the time to understand each others opinions and views makes it easier to make solid decisions.
4. What is the most important issue facing your city?
I think that there are many issues facing all cities. The economy is a big one. Another is growth and the effective management of growth.
5. What do you think will be some major issues your city will face a generation from now?
Availability of resources, management of growth now. If we can get the great minds of Willard together to carefully plan now then our children will thank us in the future. I believe that growth is inevitable, its coming whether we want it or not so the best thing for us to do is to manage it including all aspects of angles it will arrive. I believe that Progress with Preservation is key to our city. I just appreciate the opportunity to be able to run for Mayor of this great city and represent the citizens I have enjoyed knowing for so many years.
