Scott Boehme candidate for Pleasant View City Council

Name: Scott Boehme

1. What qualifications do you possess that make you the best choice to represent your city?
First, I have been actively involved in both Pleasant View City and Weber County’s political processes and issues. For many years I have attended local cottage meetings and the county’s caucus meetings. Second, I served for four years on the Pleasant View City Planning Commission.  That service provided an excellent opportunity for me to gain better insight and knowledge on how the city is run and some of the major issues we face. Third, I am currently serving on the Pleasant View City Council and have held this position for the past two years.

2. What qualities make you a good team worker and make you able to bring consensus among leaders?
I am the director of information technology for a large defense contractor and responsible for many different programs across the country. This job requires that I work with many different requirements and individuals and to provide solutions that best meet with those requirements. In order to be successful, it requires that I am able to work good effectively in a team and gain consensus for solutions from corporate leaders. I am able and willing to get all stakeholders’ input and come up with successful solutions. I have been able to use these same skills on the planning commission and city council.

3. What is the most important issue facing your city?
The most important issue we face today is maintaining a sound financial position within the city while maintaining key services. The economic down turn has caused the city to see a decrease in revenues, yet we still experience increasing costs in certain areas. As a city leader, I am committed to ensure that essential services are provided and cut back in those areas that are not necessary to the health, safety, and well being of our city. I believe that this can be done without adding an additional financial burden on our citizens.
