Bountiful OKs 10-year capital improvement plan, considers park renovation

BOUNTIFUL — City leaders have voted to keep an eye on future projects while juggling current budget needs.

The city council voted 4-1 at a recent meeting to adopt a new 10-year capital improvement plan that outlines potential projects for fiscal years 2013 through 2022.

Recent plans to build a new city hall on Main Street, in the area where the Davis County Arts Center building currently stands, and to renovate the existing hall as the future home for the arts center and regional museum are two of the big projects in the immediate future. However, city officials spent a lot of time discussing potential changes to at least one city park.

Ogden residents oppose bonding for water improvements

OGDEN — Water was on fire Thursday night as city officials held a heated town hall meeting to discuss the recent water and utility rate study.

The city is considering bonding to pay for about $45 million in needed infrastructure improvements that range from replacing old pipeline to a total replacement of the city’s water treatment plant in Ogden Canyon.

City leaders recently updated their 10-year capital improvement plan, which maps out potential projects for the next decade and sets potential guidelines for infrastructure work and replacement.

Trimmed expenses for capital projects

Planned expenses for capital projects are being downsized in a newly approved plan.

The city council recently approved the 2012 to 2016 capital improvement plan that outlines what projects the city wants to do. That plan encompasses about $3 million worth of projects, including building a new Public Works shop on already-owned land.
