Clearfield plans annual cemetery cleanup

The city is gearing up for its annual cemetery clean up.

The parks and recreation department will host the cleanup at Clearfield Memorial Park, 1050 S. State St., April 4 from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents are asked to remove any gravesite decorations they wish to save before that date, because all remaining items will be discarded.

If the weather is not good on April 4, the plan is to move the date to April 11.

Call the Community Services Department at 801-525-2790 with questions.

SYRACUSE -- Two 35-foot-long, 18-inch-wide ruts in the lawn of Syracuse Memorial Park -- the city cemetery -- concern and sadden sisters Donna Walker and Sharon Cook.

The pair contends that the 4-inch-deep ruts, caused by what they believe to be a dual-wheeled truck, have disturbed the sacredness of the hallowed grounds. They empathize with the families whose headstones are near the grooves.
