Graduates of CERT program named

SOUTH WEBER -- Emily Thomas, Deputy Recorder of South Weber, announced ten recent graduates of the CERT (Community Emergency Response Training) Team.

The training consisted of three days of hands-on training in case of an earthquake or other community disasters. All 10 graduates attended the March 27 city council meeting to receive their certificates. The graduates included: Sam Stokes, Aaron Van Noy, Debbie Buckner, Brent Buckner, Vic Barrett, Sara Lusk, John Lusk, Brain Petersen, Kristen Guymon, and Brandon Poll.

CERT classes set to begin in Clearfield

The city is holding its Citizen Emergency Response Team training class (CERT).

The class begins March 6 and runs every Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. through April 24, at the municipal building, 55 S. State St.

Cost is $25 for supplies. It is open to those 15 and older.

South Weber official focuses on CERT involvement

SOUTH WEBER — City Manager Rodger Worthen wants to upgrade the CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) effort in this community.

Worthen advocates progressive training for citizens to help respond to any critical event, including first aid and recovery efforts.

CLEARFIELD -- Registration is going on now for Clearfield's citizen emergency response team training, which starts Sept. 20 and goes through Nov. 22.

Classes are from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays in the Clearfield Municipal Building, 55 S. State St. No class will be held Nov. 8, Election Day.

CERT training to begin Sept. 15 in Ogden

Weber County residents are encouraged to sign up for an emergency training course that will focus on preparing for and responding to all types of disasters, whether small or large-scale, natural or man-made.

Community Emergency Response Team training will begin Sept. 15 and be held from 6:30 9:30 p.m. every Thursday for seven weeks at the Ogden Weber Applied Technology College 200 N. Washington Blvd.

Volunteers urge safety along raging Ogden River

OGDEN -- Dinah Novy, accompanied by her dog, Max, eased the golf cart away from Pioneer Park and slowly drove along a paved path next to the swollen Ogden River. Novy, a member of Ogden's Community Emergency Response Team, spent Thursday making rounds along a section of the Ogden River Parkway as part of a city-sponsored volunteer effort to warn pedestrians of the dangers of the fast-moving water.

CERT official earns national honor

SYRACUSE -- A Syracuse emergency official has earned national recognition.

Robin Chase, assistant citizen emergency response team director for the city, was recently honored with the 2011 Medical Reserve Corps Partner Organization Award for her effort in integrating MRC training into city CERT classes.

Chase was also recognized locally during a recent city council meeting.

CERT refresher course available

A community emergency response team (CERT) refresher course will be held on May 14 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Syracuse Fire Station at 1869 South and 3000 West.

The class will cover cribbing and fire hoses and is being held as a refresher for anyone who has been CERT certified.

Free CERT classes for Brigham folks

Brigham City — The Brigham City Community Emergency Response Team program has scheduled its spring classes for 9 a.m. to

4 p.m. May 7, 14 and 21.

CERT educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may affect their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations.

City recognizes CERT graduates

The latest class of Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) graduates was recognized by the Clinton City Council. The graduates who completed their CERT training on Feb. 19 in Clinton were Rebecca Senderhauf, Janice Johanson, Timothy Johanson, Gordon Guymon, Mark Headley, Monique Moore, Alain Pages, Andrea Hill, Tom Eisiminger and Amy Eisiminger.

CERT trainers Connie Valentine and Allen Lebrecque were given service plaques.

Roy raising funds for CERT training

ROY -- The Roy City CERT Council plans to fundraise for the CERT program with a hoedown March 12.

CERT training classes scheduled

Community emergency response team (CERT) training classes will held for a seven week period on Tuesday nights, beginning March 1 at the Syracuse Fire Station at 1869 W. 3000 South.

The classes will be held from 6-9 p.m. from March 1 through April 12 and will cost $25 and culminate with a mock disaster drill on April 16 from 9 a.m. to noon.
