Boy Scouts collect items for Missouri

RIVERDALE — Boy Scout Troop 461 has a semi trailer they are filling with donated supplies for victims of the recent tornado in Joplin, Mo.

The trailer is parked at ShopKo on Riverdale Road and the boys will be present today to accept donations. Once the trailer is filled, it will leave for Joplin.

“We need first aid supplies, hygiene items, batteries and flashlights, blankets, baby items, paper plates, coffee and drink mix,” said David Gleason, who will drive the truck donated by TramCor, and the trailer from North Am Trailer Sales in Salt Lake City. Gleason is the father of a boy from the troop, and has roots in Joplin. Cash donations are being accepted for supplies and/or fuel for the trip.

Boy Scout Troop 461, along with the Holy Family Youth Group, is based in South Ogden. A Facebook page has been created for the effort: UtahToMissouriRelief. For more information, call 801-391-8667.
