FARMINGTON -- A 29-year-old Syracuse man accused of having child pornography on his computer pleaded not guilty to seven felonies in 2nd District Court.
Tyson Lamont Ekstrom, who is a registered sex offender, entered the pleas on Tuesday to six counts of second-degree felony sex exploitation of a minor and one count of third-degree felony failure to register as a sex offender because he failed to register his computer with police.
Another court hearing is set for Sept. 16.
Ekstrom was arrested on Aug. 23 by Syracuse police who were conducting a home compliance check. He was booked in Davis County Jail on $25,000 bail.
According to a news release, officers who were speaking with Ekstrom "had some concerns that he may be doing some illegal activity on his computers."
Ekstrom gave officers consent to search the computers and that's when they found the child pornography.
According to the Utah sex offender registry, Ekstrom was convicted in Idaho in 2000 of lewd conduct with a child younger than 16.
