SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah -- A Mormon church member has been charged with arson and burglary for allegedly setting fire to two LDS meetinghouses.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports that charging documents state 26-year-old Patrick Adam Ehat allegedly set the fires because he said that the church had lied to him. But the documents did not elaborate.
Fire struck at two Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouses Saturday morning. No one was hurt but damages were estimated at more than $1 million.
Ehat was charged Thursday with two first-degree felony counts of aggravated arson and two third-degree felony burglary counts in 3rd District Court.
