Bountiful power to be off Sunday a.m.

BOUNTIFUL -- Bountiful residents will be without power from 1 a.m. to about 4 a.m. Sunday as the city finishes an upgrade to its electrical system.

The city is spending $3 million to upgrade its Parrish substation in Centerville, where power coming to Bountiful is delivered through the 138,000-volt Rocky Mountain Power lines and converted to 46,000 volts for delivery into Bountiful.

To minimize inconvenience, city officials advise residents to not call 911 unless it is an emergency, turn off and unplug sensitive electronic devices, keep refrigerators or freezers closed in order to keep their food cold and to be aware that cordless phones will not work during the outage.
