Clearfield teen sues after spin in dryer

CLEARFIELD -- A Clearfield teen who took at least 10 rotations inside a clothes dryer, claiming the dryer was turned on under the direction of Clearfield Police, has filed a civil lawsuit against the city in federal court.

Police arrest 17-year-old accused of shootings at Clearfield party

CLEARFIELD — Police arrested a 17-year-old boy who they say shot five people at a party in March.

The boy, who is believed to be affiliated with the Nortenos gang, was found in Ogden early Saturday morning, Assistant Police Chief Mike Stenquist said.

Stenquist said police received a tip about who the shooter was and where he was.

Man accused of urging fellow gangster to shoot at Clearfield party

CLEARFIELD — Police have arrested a third person they say was involved in a shooting that injured five people at a party in Clearfield in March.

Dwayne Ace Brown, 25, of Ogden, was booked into Davis County Jail on Wednesday on suspicion of five counts of aggravated assault, one count of discharging a firearm in the direction of a person or building and one count of riot.

CLEARFIELD — Police are asking anyone who may think they know something about a shooting that wounded four teenagers in March to call them.

“We’re still actively investigating the shooting,” said Assistant Police Chief Mike Stenquist.

The shooting happened about 12:30 a.m. March 17 at a party in the cul-de-sac of 150 N. 1200 West.

Police released a 911 call Tuesday that was made at the time of the shooting. A woman called dispatch reporting “that a bunch of kids are out in the cul-de-sac” and was actually on the phone when she heard gunshots, Stenquist said.

LAYTON — Police are investigating why a 22-year-old man failed to comply with police orders, which led to his being shot and admitted to a local hospital in critical condition.

The shooting occurred at Quail Ridge Mobile Home Park, 935 E. Highway 193, Layton, just east of Hill Air Force Base.

UPDATE: Diabetic Clearfield youth back with mother

CLEARFIELD -- According to Clearfield police, at approximately 7 p.m., Tuesday, the mother of missing juvenile Samuel Appleby called police and said she located her son and was in custody of him.

No further information was available, according to a press release from Clearfield police.

An earlier release stated that on Saturday, the 13-year-old Appleby ran away from his home in Clearfield.
