Gregory a new line for Anthropologie

Los Angeles-based designer Gregory Parkinson has launched a new line for Anthropologie named Gregory, with seven styles priced from $170 to $464, including a tie-dye maxi dress, shifts, blouses, miniskirts and a cardigan, all with Parkinson's signature saturated colors and boho prints.

Students learn life skills as they serve others

LAYTON — Junior high and high school students from across the state met Wednesday to share their knowledge and talents in family and consumer sciences.

The annual Family, Career and Community Leaders of America State Conference allowed approximately 1,000 students to compete in one of 28 categories ranging from culinary arts and interior design to applied technology and job interviews.

Apparel/home fashion store opens in Farmington

FARMINGTON — Station Park continues to add new stores, with Gordmans Inc. the latest to open.

Gordmans, an apparel and home fashion retailer based in Nebraska, opened its doors to shoppers Thursday. The official grand opening will be Friday, but shoppers are getting an early look at the new store.

Clothing Cottage at God’s Place closing

OGDEN — After 10 years of service in the community, the Clothing Cottage at God’s Place, 3717 Grant Ave., will be closing. Its last hours of operation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Wednesday and March 21.

OGDEN -- Salvation Army volunteers and staff members were busy organizing fundraising and preparing to provide Christmas for needy families when some of Santa's helpers walked through the chapel doors.

Your Valet cleaner sponsors coat drive for charity

OGDEN — Your Valet Fine Dry Cleaning is having a coat drive for charity.

The coats will be cleaned and given to United Way, YCC and Youth Impact in Weber County and Family Connection Center in Davis County.

Coats for adults and children of all ages will be accepted. The drive will continue until early December, with coats distributed well before Christmas.

Donated coats may be brought to any Your Valet location: 2898 Washington Blvd. in Ogden; 2600 N. Washington Blvd., North Ogden; 1501 S. Main St. in Bountiful.

Clothing swap to be Tuesday at church

OGDEN -- An all-ages clothing swap will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 705 23rd St. in Ogden.

Anyone can bring their used coats, mittens, gloves and winter clothing to swap. Clothes should be washed and dried beforehand.

To help set up and clean up, arrive at 4:30 p.m.

Clearfield woman repeatedly fights cancer with humor

CLEARFIELD -- Calling it a gift, a Clearfield woman has a knack for making cancer cells produce rapidly in her body.

Linda Hill told students about that "gift" Thursday at Clearfield High School.

'Navajo Hipster Panties' clothing line sparks uproar

When Sasha Houston Brown walked into an Urban Outfitters store in Minneapolis recently, what she found created possible legal trouble for the hipster clothing chain.

Appalled by a line of products labeled "Navajo," Brown, a member of the Santee Sioux nation, wrote an open letter to CEO Glen Senk and accused the retailer of making a "mockery" of American Indian culture and identity and asking that the line be pulled from shelves.

"I take personal offense to the blatant racism and perverted cultural appropriation your store features this season as 'fashion,' " she wrote, citing "tacky" products including "Navajo Hipster Panty, Navajo Print Fabric-Wrapped Flask, Peace Treaty Feather Necklace and Staring at Stars Skull Native Headdress T-shirt."

Suit drive planned to aid job seekers

SALT LAKE CITY -- From now until Aug. 31, Catholic Community Services of Utah will partner with Men's Wearhouse to help disadvantaged job seekers receive gently used business attire.
