Manning added to WSU soccer coaching staff

OGDEN -- Weber State University women's soccer coach Tim Crompton announced Monday that Mike Manning has joined the Wildcats' staff as an assistant coach.

Manning, who served as the teams volunteer assistant coach in 2011, replaces longtime Wildcats coach Tom VudhiVadhana, who retired last month.

"I'd really like to thank coach Crompton for giving me this opportunity," Manning said. "It has been a lifelong goal of mine to be able to coach at the highest collegiate level."

Manning is well known in the Utah and regional coaching circles, having coached in the Utah Olympic Development Program since 2006. He enters his seventh season with the ODP in 2012.

'Godfather' of WSU soccer retires

OGDEN -- Weber State soccer assistant coach Tom VudhiVadhana has announced that he is retiring from his full-time position with the Wildcats, but will remain a part of the program as a part-time volunteer coach.

VudhiVadhana has been a part of the Wildcat soccer program since its inception back in 1996. He served as co-head coach alongside Lynn Kofoed for eight seasons, before transitioning to an assistant coach as current head coach Tim Crompton took over.

"I would like to thank Weber State for the opportunities that they have presented me," said VudhiVadhana. "It has been an honor to be a coach with both the club teams and the NCAA team. It has been a great ride. We have had a lot of success over the years and I have met a lot of good people and made a lot of great friends.

"The best part of being involved in the programs at Weber State has been watching all of the girls come through the program. It is because of the kids that we are there, and it has been really fun to see them create great moments on the field, have success in the classroom, and to watch them develop into great, successful people."

Lillard gets medical redshirt; Wildcat star's junior season restored

OGDEN -- A trio of Weber State athletes were granted medical redshirts on Thursday following approval from the Big Sky Conference NCAA faculty representatives and the presidents of the conference schools.

Standout point guard Damian Lillard will have two more seasons as a Wildcat. Lillard was officially granted his medical redshirt petition Thursday, following approval from presidents of the Big Sky Conference schools. The other two are soccer forward Kierstin Raught and softball infielder Ashley Huddleston.

Lillard, who will be a junior for the Wildcats this fall, played in nine games for the Wildcats during the 2010-11 season before suffering a foot injury that forced him to miss the remainder of the season.
