Children become animals at Syracuse school

SYRACUSE — A menagerie of unusual animals showed up Friday at Buffalo Point Elementary School.

The creatures were first-grade students inside animal costumes, parading through the school in the culminating activity of a monthlong study of animals, said first-grade teacher Cindy Nottingham.

Count Dracula never looked so utterly frightening. Or so absolutely adorable.

And when you think about it, that's always been the modus operandi of that most famous of vampires. All charming and innocent-looking, and then suddenly -- WHAM! -- you're completely under his spell and out come the fangs.
