FARMINGTON -- Six former Walmart employees, including three who were fired from the Layton store, filed a lawsuit on Friday against their former employer.
The lawsuit was mailed to the 2nd District Court on Wednesday and arrived there on Thursday. The lawsuit was officially filed on Friday.
Shawn Ray, Gabriel Stewart and Lori Poulsen feel that they were wrongfully terminated after disarming a gunman in their store.
James Dallin is a former manager at the Cedar Hills store, while Derek Holt and Eric Hunter worked at the store in West Valley. Those three have similar experiences. Holt and Hunter struggled with a woman who had a knife, while Dallin said he had to protect a coworker in a domestic violence incident.
Walmart defended the Layton firings, saying the employees violated store policy by dealing inappropriately with a shoplifter.
Justin Richins was also fired from the Layton store with Ray, Stewart and Poulsen. However, Richins is not listed as one of the plaintiffs.
