SLC man to serve 15-to-life for drive-by slaying

SALT LAKE CITY -- A 27-year-old Utah man has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison in the drive-by slaying of his girlfriend's common-law husband.

Jose Adrian Rodriguez-Ramirez was sentenced Monday by a 3rd District judge in Salt Lake City.

Rodriguez-Ramirez pleaded guilty in May to one count of murder in the June 2010 death of 32-year-old Juan Rubio Navarro outside Navarro's home.

Prosecutors say Navarro was the common-law husband of 24-year-old Maria Marta Campusano, who was also dating Rodriguez-Ramirez.

Campusano was acquitted by a jury last week of an obstruction of justice charge.

A 25-year-old man, Jose Gallegos-Mendoza, was also charged with murder in the case.

He has pleaded not guilty and is due for trial in September.
